Eligibility and Application Process: 

Is there a limit to when I graduated in the past in order to apply for this scholarship?

Yes, there is an age limit. You must be 18 years old by 31 August 2024 to be eligible. If you turn 18 on/after 1st September 2024, you can apply a year later [2] .

How do I know if my country is an eligible sending partner?

You can find out if your country is an eligible sending partner by checking the list of supported countries in the Call for Application for BSc, MSc programs and in the Call for Applications for Doctoral programs [9] .

Can a student studying at the University of Debrecen apply for the scholarship?

Yes, students studying at the University of Debrecen can apply for the scholarship [6] .
 

Can I use my two-year degree program from mt country to apply for a Bachelor’s program at the University of Debrecen under this scholarship?

Yes, you can use your two-year degree program from Nigeria (polytechnic) to apply for a Bachelor’s program [2] .

Required Documents and Language Proficiency: 

What documents should I upload for the application?

Do I need a certificate for my proficiency in English if I studied translation and interpretation in my country?

Stipendium Hungaricum Timeline

Steps to Start Your Application


Applicants are allowed to call for application from November 15, 2022 until January 15, 2023. After January 15, 2023, applicants will not be able to submit their application to the scholarship program. To apply to the Stipendium Hungaricum Program, please follow the following steps:

1. FILL OUT YOUR APPLICATION

To start your application to the Stipendium Hungaricum Program, please fill out the form below

2. COMPLETE YOUR REGISTRATION PROCESS

After filling out the form below, you will be redirected to complete your application process.

3. CHOOSE YOUR STUDY PROGRAM

Upon completing the registration process, applicants will be able to choose their desired study program. At this step, choose your desired study program at the University of Debrecen.

4. UPLOAD YOUR DOCUMENTS

After completing your registration process, you will be able to submit your required documents. Check the required documents mentioned above.

5. CHECK WITH SENDING PARTNER

Applicants are advised to check whether they need to connect with the sending partner from their home country regarding their scholarship application.

The Sending Partner is an organization in your home country (usually the Ministry of Higher Education) who is responsible for the pre-selection (nomination) of the applicants. Therefore it is of vital importance that you contact your Sending Partner after submitting your application to find out the conditions of nomination.

6. WAIT FOR RESULTS

There are two selection points for all applicants. Applicants will receive final notification about selection results in the middle/end of June 2022 after the two selection points are complete.

7. APPLY FOR VISA

At this point, accepted applicants will be able to start their visa process in July 2023. Applicants are advised to start their application process as soon as they receive the scholarship acceptance notification; the visa process may take some time.

8. ENROLL AT YOUR DESIRED UNIVERSITY

Accepted applicants will arrive in Hungary until September 30, 2023 after completing their visa process.

If someone doesn’t get the scholarship, how can they become a fee-paying student?
